The overlap valves, controlled by EPC (modulated pressure) and shift valve pressure, are used to gradually reduce the pressure to the disengaging clutch. The replacement spring and valve ratios maintain OE shift pressures for proper timing and function. The oversized hard-coat anodized valve has slightly longer critical spool diameters and optimized annular groove placement for better hydraulic sealing and to prevent future bore wear.
